VSAT satellite Internet systems provide Commercial-grade satellite Internet service. This is especially important for individuals or businesses that demand highly reliable Internet service. VSAT satellite Internet systems use a more powerful radio than other "consumer-grade" satellite such as Hughesnet / Direcway and Starband systems. VSAT service providers also have fewer users per channel to ensure greater availability and reliability.
VSAT Satellite Internet Service providers offer many different and flexible service levels, each providing greater maximum up and down speed, and a larger "FAP" limit*. We offer two sizes of VSAT satellite dish systems. The basic dish is a 1.2 meter system with a 3 watt radio. The 1.8 meter system includes a 4-watt radio transmitter to support higher service levels, and to provide greater margin for rain fade and other conditions which can otherwise impair service over satellite.
Dish Size | 1.2 meter | 1.8 meter |
Radio Power | 3 watt | 4 watt |
Equipment Price | $2,495.00 | $3,495.00 |
Note that the "Contention Ratios" shown below refer to the absolute maximum number of other subscribers who can occupy your same channel on the satellite at the same time. A 20 to 1 contention ratio means a maximum of 20 subscribers per channel. A 10 to 1 contention ratio means a maximum of 10 subscribers per channel: By comparison, HughesNet may stack up to 400 subscribers on the same channel.

Notes:
Installation ServicesContention Ratio - This is the maximum number of other subscribers who may share your same satellite channel at any given moment. Lower contention ratios mean fewer subscribers and higher system availability.
Maximum Burst Speed - This is the maximum connection speed potential at any given time. Overall traffic on your network, your assigned satellite channel, and weather conditions in your area and the network operations center may reduce your speeds. Minimum speeds can be estimated by dividing the Maximum Burst Speed by the Contention Ratio (example: 512 Kbps Maximum Burst Speed / 1:10 Contention Ratio = 51.2 Kbps Minimum)
Term of Contract - Shared Service pricing is based on a minimum one year contract term. Penalties for early cancellation will apply. Shorter Service terms are available at
slightly higher fees.
Commissioning Fee: $250.00 one-time fee for customers moving from another iDirect HUB operator, contingent upon customer providing evidence of prior HUB activation.
VoIP Support Option - Add $60 per month to above pricing for guaranteed minimum speed (Committed Information Rate, or CIR) of 30Kb to support VoIP telephone service. This option is required for VoIP service (Net2Phone 30Kb service recommended). No representations are made that VoIP will operate correctly without the purchase of CIR.
Payment Method: US and non-US credit cards are accepted. Service for the first and last months will be billed in advance, plus the service commissioning fee.
Fair Access Policy – Although a strict FAP is not enforced, use of the bandwidth in excess of the specific plan will generate a review of each sites monthly service fee. Customer will have 7 days to adjust the service plan. If no agreement can be reached, Customers usage may be restricted and/or the contract canceled.
Service Plan Upgrades or Downgrades: Customer may upgrade or downgrade the service level on the first day of any month. Downgrades will be charged a one-time fee of $50.00 per occurrence. Fees for service upgrades will be waived. Upgrades and downgrades will not be made in the middle of a calendar month.
Typically, a HughesNet or iDirect VSAT system installation on a single-story flat roof within 50' of the main computer will run about $600. Ground-mount poles, conduit, installation on high roofs or walls, or connections to additional computers or wireless routers may be at additional fee. Travel fees for installation and repair work in remote locations may apply.
